Course Goals (acquired competencies): Understanding the impact of the wireless relay channel over the performance and design of mobile communications systems. Ability to analyze the radio channel characteristics, radio resource allocation techniques and base station positioning.
Subject of the course content: Principles of mobile communications. Characterization of mobile fading channel (narrowband and wideband). Channel sounding. Modeling of mobile fading channel. Capacity of mobile channel. Influence of mobility over the design ad performance of transmitter and receivers. Capacity of mobile communications system. Channel Interference in mobile systems. Interference mitigation. Techniques, algorithms and tools for optimal positioning of base stations. Channel allocation and resource allocation. Power allocation in mobile stations and base stations. Mobile terminal discovery and localization. Cooperative mobile communications. Fading in cooperative channels with mobile nodes. Relay channels. Cellular cooperative communications systems.
