Course Goals (acquired competencies): The student is expected to learn advanced techniques and trends for ICT systems to achieve energy efficiency and sustainable development in several areas: electricity, transport and logistics, telecommunications, automation, management infrastructure and public services, etc.
Subject of the course content: Advanced applications of ICT systems for energy efficiency and sustainable development. New trends of ICT systems utilization in: production management, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, transport and logistics, automation of industrial processes, home automation, building management, infrastructure management, management of public services, reduction of CO2 emissions and effects of global warming and climate changes. Energy efficiency through telepresence. Trends in energy efficiency models for R&D. New business models for energy and telecom operators. Development of new applications and services. Regulatory trends. Energy consumption by ICT systems. Energy-efficient ICT systems. Methods and models for optimization of ICT systems towards energy-efficiency improvement.
