Course Goals (acquired competencies): Students will learn the basic standards and protocols for IoT systems. After the competition of the course, they will be able to design and develop software for different types of IoT applications in terms of data exchange in different IoT scenarios.
Course Syllabus: Survey of the basic standards and protocols for IoT networking. Introduction to the existing standards and protocols of the physical, MAC and network layer of the protocol stack. A special focus on the session protocols, i.e. the data exchange protocols, such as MQTT, CoAP, XMPP, LwM2M, RESTfull HTTP, etc., Utilization of the open data protocols for the development of IoT applications.
